Market Research and Analysis
    Conducted in-depth interviews with US-based cataract surgeons for a leading
    ophthalmology company, focused on premium IOLs and laser technology. The final
    report included a detailed assessment of current physician attitudes, and actionable
    recommendations for product positioning and messaging.

    Administered an online survey to cataract/refractive surgeons, following an initial
    round of in-depth interviews, for an ophthalmic laser technology company. Resulting
    conclusions and recommendations covered product positioning, potential business
    models, pricing, and forecasted adoption.

    Conducted market research on the dry eye market and on a new product concept for
    an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company. The project included one-on-one interviews
    and an online survey of physicians, followed by in-depth interviews with patients, resulting
    in specific recommendations regarding product positioning and a forecast of potential
    market penetration.

Corporate Strategy and Fundraising Support
    Modeled the market opportunity for an early stage refractive surgery implant company,
    including development of a unique approach to patient segmentation. Ongoing activities
    have included competitive intelligence, in-depth interviews with European refractive
    surgeons, and assistance with VC due diligence inquiries, contributing to two successful
    venture financing rounds.

    Worked collaboratively with a leading medical device incubator to help launch three
    new companies. Provided research and analysis that influenced product development
    direction and contributed to successful financing efforts.

    Contributed to the fundraising process for a new ophthalmology-focused venture
    capital firm. Prepared the market overview section for the fund’s private placement
    memorandum, and collaborated with general partners on a presentation for potential
    limited partners.

    Advised a leading ophthalmic service provider regarding its business expansion
    program. Proposed potential new business models and performed scenario analysis,
    incorporating available market data, proprietary forecasts, and interviews with physicians.

    Supported the fundraising process for an early stage glaucoma device company.

Market Segmentation and Financial Modeling
    Prepared a detailed ophthalmic surgery market model for a broad-based ophthalmic
    supplier, in support of a corporate board-level competitive landscape initiative.

    Modeled the LASIK market, including scenario and valuation analysis, for a leading
    refractive surgery company. The analysis was used to support a successful patent
    license negotiation.

Due Diligence: Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Corporate
    Researched multiple investment opportunities for leading US and European VC firms, in
    market segments such as macular degeneration, glaucoma devices and
    pharmaceuticals, cataract and refractive surgery, dry eye, and diabetic retinopathy.

    Prepared a detailed due diligence report on the ophthalmic blade and instrument
    market for a leading private equity firm. The analysis, which was supported by interviews
    with surgeons and suppliers, incorporated relevant market trends, competitive landscape,
    and recommended acquisition targets.

    Conducted due diligence on the ophthalmic laser and retinal imaging markets for an
    ophthalmic imaging company, including physician interviews and technology
    assessments, to support go/no-go decisions on multiple M&A opportunities.
Ophthalmology
Marketing and Corporate Strategy
    Led the initial marketing effort for a development stage spinal device company.
    Provided market perspective, competitive intelligence, and strategic advisory to the senior
    management team and board of directors. Actively participated in successful Series A, B,
    and C fundraising efforts. Marketing activities included qualitative research, corporate
    identity development, product branding, sales planning, and involvement with R&D and the
    scientific advisory board to support product development.

    Provided strategic advisory to a physician inventor/entrepreneur with a novel
    technology for orthopedic power tools. Areas of collaboration included revenue
    forecasting, company valuation, partnership negotiations, and industry networking.

Market Research and Analysis
    Conducted in-depth interviews with orthopedic/trauma surgeons to evaluate a novel
    fracture fixation technology for a VC-backed company. Research findings were used to
    provide feedback to the product development team, prioritize clinical applications, and
    develop revenue forecasts.

    Prepared a market overview for a development stage shoulder arthroscopy company,
    incorporating surgeon feedback, pricing analysis, and procedure segmentation and
    forecasting.

    Physician feedback was incorporated into conclusions regarding market opportunity and

    healthcare company, including market segmentation, technology overview, and
    competitive landscape. Made recommendations regarding product positioning and launch
    strategy.

Marketing Strategy
    Provided market intelligence and modeling for an early stage bariatric surgery device
    company, including obesity market segmentation, competitive landscape, hospital and
    payer economics, and key demographic and clinical trends. Developed a detailed market
    model and revenue forecast, for use in support of company valuation analysis and
    business development initiatives.

    Conducted a broad analysis of the prostate cancer treatment market, including
    surgical and radiation-based approaches, for a leading technology supplier. Specific
    recommendations were provided regarding marketing programs aimed at both physicians
    and patients.

    Worked with a development stage cardiology company to provide a broad perspective
    into medical technology adoption curves and company valuations. The analysis
    supported a successful re-negotiation of a patent license.

Due Diligence: Venture Capital
    Contributed to the assessment and valuation of an existing  healthcare venture capital
    portfolio for a leading private equity firm. Provided feedback from physicians and industry
    experts, performed scenario analysis, and made specific investment recommendations.

    Interviewed ENT physicians regarding a novel hearing aid technology, in support of a VC
    due diligence effort.
