Market Segmentation and Modeling:
    Modeled the market opportunity for an early stage refractive surgery company,
    including development of a unique approach to patient segmentation. The resulting report
    and presentation contributed to a successful venture financing round.

Corporate Strategy and Fundraising Support:
    Worked collaboratively with a leading medical device incubator to help launch three
    new companies. Provided research and analysis that influenced product development
    direction and contributed to successful financing efforts.

    Supported the fundraising efforts of an early stage glaucoma device company.  
    Activities included market modeling, competitive intelligence, and participation in meetings
    with potential VC investors.

Market Research and Analysis:
    Conducted in-depth market research on the dry eye market and on a new product
    concept for an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company. The project included one-on-one
    interviews and an online survey of physicians, resulting in specific recommendations
    regarding product positioning and a forecast of potential market penetration.

Financial Modeling and Negotiation Strategy:
    Modeled the LASIK market, including scenario and valuation analysis, for a leading
    refractive surgery company. The analysis was used to support a successful patent
    license negotiation.

Due Diligence: Corporate:
    Conducted due diligence on the ophthalmic laser and retinal imaging markets for an
    ophthalmic imaging company, including physician interviews and technology
    assessments, to support go/no-go decisions on multiple M&A opportunities.  

Due Diligence: Venture Capital:
    Researched multiple investment opportunities for leading US and European VC firms,  
    in markets such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract and refractive surgery, and
    diabetic retinopathy.
Ophthalmology
Marketing and Corporate Strategy:
    Led the initial marketing effort for a development stage orthopedic device company.
    Provided market perspective, competitive intelligence, and strategic advisory to the senior
    management team and board of directors. Actively participated in successful Series A and
    B fundraising rounds. Marketing activities included corporate identity, product branding,
    sales planning, and involvement with R&D and the scientific advisory board to support
    product development.

Market Research and Analysis:
    Prepared a market overview for a development stage shoulder arthroscopy company,
    incorporating surgeon feedback, pricing analysis, and procedure segmentation and
    forecasting.

Due Diligence: Venture Capital:
    Researched the spinal implant market for a leading medical technology VC firm

    Performed a detailed analysis of the audiology market for a large, diversified
    healthcare company, including market segmentation, technology overview, and
    competitive landscape; made recommendations regarding product positioning and
    launch strategy.

Marketing Strategy:
    Conducted a broad analysis of the prostate cancer treatment market, including surgical
    and radiation-based approaches, for a leading technology supplier. Specific
    recommendations were provided regarding marketing programs aimed at both physicians
    and patients.

    Provided market intelligence for an early stage bariatric surgery device company,
    including obesity market segmentation, competitive landscape, hospital and payer
    economics, and key demographic and clinical trends.

Due Diligence: Venture Capital:
    Contributed to the assessment and valuation of an existing  healthcare venture capital
    portfolio for a leading private equity firm. Provided feedback from physicians and industry
    experts, performed scenario analysis, and made specific investment recommendations.

    Interviewed ENT physicians regarding a novel hearing aid technology, in support of a VC
    due diligence effort.

Valuation Analysis and Negotiation Strategy:
    Worked with a development stage cardiology company to provide a broad perspective
    into historical medical technology adoption curves and company valuations. The
    analysis supported a successful re-negotiation of a patent license.
